About Us
In 1993, G.B. King and Lewis was renamed Lewis Metal Works, Inc. and moved to its new and present home in the J. Aubrey Houghton Industial Park. The business continued to expand and in 1999 Lewis opened a machine shop and millwright division in a leased building on U.S. Highway 58 East. To solve space limitations and to consolidate the entire operation, Lewis added 6,000 square feet to the existing 8,000 square foot facility in the Houghton Industrial Park in 2003. Lewis Metal Works' staff of 32 employees can now perform the multiple specialties of fabrication, welding, millwright, and machine works services within one facility.
The new shop is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment and tools, plus two overhead 5-ton cranes that facilitate fabrication. Lewis Metal Works is equipped with a mobile crane that can lift and place most of the items produced in South Boston. Working with its own design or those of an outside architect, Lewis Metal Works engineers and fabricates products for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers throughout Virginia and beyond to clients anywhere in the USA.
