    Summary

    Huber Engineered Woods, LLC Crystal Hill facility is seeking a high energy applicant for an Electrical Automation and Controls Tech. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as an industrial electrician or completion of an electrical degree program with an accredited school and 3 years’ experience as an industrial electrician in a heavy industrial environment, and willing to work in a team environment.

    This position reports to the Electrical Supervisor. Responsible for ensuring plant process efficiency. Make necessary changes and recommendations for change to ensure optimal performance and safe operation of plant production equipment. Program PLC’s and update plant electrical equipment. Install, repair, and updates plant computer and microprocessor systems using wiring diagrams and prints. When necessary, assists Electrical Supervisor in the organization, scheduling, and direction of electrical maintenance activities. The applicant must be able to assist the electrical supervisor in the organization, scheduling, and direction of maintenance activities and training of maintenance technicians. Performs electrical maintenance tasks in a number of skill areas to install and maintain electrical machinery, instruments, and controls within the plant.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities

    1. Design, develop, and implement control systems to improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.

    2. Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions to ensure maximum operational efficiency.

    3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand process requirements and translate them into automated solutions.

    4. Conduct periodic hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

    5. Develop and execute project plans within budget and timeline constraints.

    6. Assists Electrical Supervisor in the scheduling and development of (PM) preventative maintenance inspections.

    7. Responsible for updating, maintaining, and documentation of all plant PLC programming.

    8. Responsible for the creation and storage of backup software for all operational equipment.

    9. Installs and maintains new equipment. Plans, lays-out and installs recorders, controllers, and other instruments. Plans, routes, and installs air supply and signal lines to valves, transmitters, instruments, etc. Installs conduit and wires as required and connects electrical power.

    10. Performs inspection of all plant instruments to insure proper operation. Makes adjustments as needed and cleans and lubricates parts as needed. Changes worn components and recommends action to improve equipment performance.

    11. Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs pneumatic-electronic instruments and electromechanical components and recommends action to be taken.

    12. Installs and repairs programmable electronic controllers. If necessary, edits and changes program via portable programming terminal as directed. Communicated all changes with appropriate departments.

    13. Performs testing, inspecting, and repairing of instruments and related apparatus as directed.

    14. Detects and reports faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to supervisor.

    15. Creates and maintains production and equipment files for all instruments.

    16. Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical machinery, instruments, and controls throughout the plant.

    17. Troubleshooting of AC (alternating current), DC (direct current) and variable frequency drives, instruments, and control systems. Installation and programming of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and its use in troubleshooting.

    18. Performs skilled electrical maintenance tasks and assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical machinery, instruments, and controls throughout the plant. Proficient in the following areas:

    • Installation of electrical cables, conduit, wire, switches, lights etc. in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
    • Repair of electric tools and equipment, including power tools, test equipment, etc.
    • Performing preventive maintenance on AC and DC motors, simple electro-mechanical components, and programmable logic controller components.
    • PM (preventive maintenance) to motors and other electro-mechanical devices.
    • Possess training and experience in all various skill areas to maintain plant electrical equipment and a full knowledge of electrical codes, diagrams, schematic drawings, and blueprints.
    • Calibrating instruments, sensors, chart recorders, etc.
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting of high voltage equipment including transformers, switch gears, and substations.
    • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with all distributed and discrete microprocessor based systems within the plant.
    • Documentation of electrical systems (hardware and software).
    • Maintenance of files on motor equipment and PM including drawings and schematics for permanent records.
    • Manufacturing of electrical control systems including panel layout, wiring, installation, etc.

    Must be able to occasionally operate portable power tools, shop equipment, forklift, and other mobile equipment.

    Must be able to wear hearing protection and respirator required for task being performed.

    Lift 50 pounds and work at elevated levels up to 120 feet

    Must know and be able to observe applicable company policies and safe practices

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience as an industrial electrician or completion of an electrical degree program with an accredited school and 3 years’ experience as an industrial electrician.
    • Proven experience in automation systems design and programming.
    • Proficiency in PLC programming and industrial hardware integration.
    • Strong understanding of industrial control systems, machine design, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
    • Excellent communication (presentation, written, oral).

    Pay: $37.35 - $41.64 per hour

    Schedule:

    • Monday to Friday
    • Overtime
    • Weekends as needed
