PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors of Halifax County, Virginia (“Board”) will hold a joint public hearing on September 20, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in Public Meeting Room, Number 201, of the Mary Bethune Office Complex, 1030 Mary Bethune Street, Halifax, Virginia 24558, for the purpose of receiving public comments regarding proposed Ordinance No. 2022-28, which would amend and reenact Chapter 47, Subdivision of Land, Section 47- 82, Dwellings per lot; Chapter 53, Zoning, Section 53-1, Definitions; and, Chapter 53, Zoning, Section 53-175, Use regulations, and Section 53-320, Use Regulations. Ordinance No. 2022-28 is described as follows: If adopted, the proposed ordinance revisions would conform Section 47-82 with Section 53-175(37), added definitions for “self-contained camping unit” and “temporary housing”, and expand permitted uses in the agricultural district A-1 and B-2, Business, general. Copies of the proposed Ordinance may be examined at the following locations: (i) the County Administrator’s Office at 1050 Mary Bethune Street, Halifax, Virginia 24558 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays; and (ii) the County’s website (www.halifaxcountyva.gov). Citizens are encouraged to review the Ordinance referenced in this notice. Citizens are encouraged to attend the public hearing and comment on the proposed Ordinance. During this public hearing, the Planning Commission and Board will provide all citizens with the opportunity to discuss the impact of the proposed changes and all views on this subject will be considered prior to the final approval.
