While the Barbecue War of all Barbecue Wars is waged July 13 in South Boston, The Gazette-Virginian via the Hitachi Energy South Boston wire can now confirm that history through fire will also be on display thanks to Pitmaster and restaurateur Craig Hartman of the BBQ Exchange who will be executing a Virginia whole hog pit dug barbecue demo!

Asked specifically by Southern Grit to bring both his expertise and the key history component to this event, Hartman has shaped Virginia barbecue over the years in Gordonsville, building both community and fellowship there through his restaurant, barbecue and events. Having him come to Halifax County and cooking whole hogs the old Virginia way is a true treat!
